Chief Master Sgt. Darin S. LaCour is Command Chief of the 149th Fighter Wing, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Chief LaCour serves as the senior enlisted leader and is responsible for advising commanders and staff on mission effectiveness, professional development, military readiness, training, utilization, health, morale, and welfare of the wing’s enlisted airmen.
Chief LaCour began his military career in the fall of 1987 and attended basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, with follow-on aircraft armament training at Lowry AFB in Colorado. In April of 1988, following technical training school, Chief LaCour was assigned to U.S. Air Forces Europe and was stationed at Soesterberg Air Base, Netherlands, working on F-15 Eagle weapons systems. In 1990, Chief LaCour was transferred stateside to the 37th Fighter Wing, Tonopah Test Range, Nevada, as a weapons load crew member on the F-117 Stealth Fighter. Chief LaCour left active duty in June 1992 and became a traditional Guard member with the 149th Fighter Wing at Kelly Field AFB and was also employed as a Texas police narcotics officer with the City of Schertz. Chief LaCour has deployed in support of many contingencies including five hurricane deployments, Operations Desert Shield/Storm, and Enduring Freedom.
He also served as a Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force Officer with more than 20 years of experience enforcing federal and state drug laws. Prior to his current assignment, Chief LaCour served as a weapons load crew member, load crew chief, weapons expeditor, first sergeant and wing weapons manager working on the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
