Unit passes milestone

HOUSTON -- The 147th Fighter Wing handed off Air Sovereignty Alert duties to the 138th Fighter Wing of the Oklahoma Air National Guard Feb. 1. The aircraft that moved into their ASA "launch" positions will have Oklahoma colors on their tails instead of Texas colors for the first time in five decades.
"From this aircraft maintenance chief's perspective, the transition is met with some nostalgia and some sense of loss," said wing Chief Master Sgt. Marlon Nation. "In spite of this, it is with eager anticipation that we 'charge the next hill' and bring along the same excellent performance that has been evident throughout the history of our unit."
The transition is only the latest milestone in the ongoing transformation of the Air National Guard unit at Ellington Field.
