The Air National Guard's Recruiter of the Year will make her home in San Antonio and begin recruiting for the 149th Fighter Wing Jan. 6.

Master Sgt. Michelle Echavarria, formally of the 136th Airlift Wing in Fort Worth, Texas,
was chosen from among over 25 candidates that competed for the vacant recruiting position.

"The competition for the position was tough because we had a lot of great candidates,"
said recruiting supervisor Master Sgt. Raul Elizondo.

"In the end, it was hard to pass up such an outstanding individual. She has some big shoes to fill, but we are confident she will do an outstanding job."

Elizondo was referring to the expectations Master Sgt Amanda Conaway left in her wake
as a top producer for the 149th and the Texas Air National Guard.

"I'm looking forward to working in the F-16 environment," said Master Sgt. Echavarria.
"I've always like San Antonio and my husband and I are excited about the change."
